LUSH Christmas Haul

LUSH is always the perfect place to go if you're looking for a nice pampering treat, but at Christmas time everything somehow gets better. Out come the limited edition items we wait for all year, the festive scents, the novelty bath bombs and my Christmas LUSH haul has become an annual event.

I actually made this order online, which in some ways takes away from the fun of smelling all the different bath bombs and choosing the best ones to take home with me, but I chose to do this just so I could buy the new limited edition SNOW FAIRY perfume! As soon as I read about this being released I was on the LUSH website and had it added to my basket within 30 seconds. Snow Fairy for me is the scent of Christmas, and my absolute favourite LUSH fragrance so I just had to buy it. If you haven't smelt Snow Fairy before, it is very sugary and sweet. Its a blend of candy-floss and pear drops designed to ignite childhood memories and sweetshop nostalgia. LUSH have released 5 limited edition scents in total so if Snow Fairy isn't your thing, I'm sure there will be something for you. The only downside is, they are only available online so you can't give them a sniff before parting with your pennies. This would make the PERFECT Christmas present for any Snow Fairy fans out there, and it retails at £25 for 30ml.

The next thing I added to my basket was the Santa's Lip Scrub which is like any other LUSH lip scrub, but this one is cola flavoured! I adore LUSH lip scrubs but I felt like I needed a change from my much loved bubblegum flavoured scrub and this is just perfect. You basically just rub this into the lips and it removes all dead skin and flakiness and leaves your lips feeling lovely and smooth. Even better is the fact that you can lick it off your lips as it just takes like cola sugar! This scrub costs £5.50 and will last forever so it's a great investment!

Now a LUSH haul would not be complete without some bath bombs. I'm not really a bath kinda person, I much prefer my morning showers, but in winter that does all change and an evening bath is the perfect thing to send me to sleep. Because it's not often I have baths I do like to really treat myself when I do and this is where LUSH comes in. I picked up a few of the limited edition Christmas items to make my baths a real pampering treat!

Shoot for the Stars is one of the classic fizzing ball bath bombs featuring beautiful colours that will transfer into your bathwater. This has the same fragrance as the much loved Honey I Shrunk the Kids Soap but I really just bought it because I loved the star design! I cannot wait to use it and watch it turn my bath into the colours of the night sky! This bath bomb costs £3.25

The Melting Snowman was the bargain price of £2.25 and he was just too adorable not to buy. He is a bath melt which means he includes lots of lovely oils to make your skin feel super soft! The featured ingredient is Almond Oil and you can really smell that coming through which I love. It will be sad watching his little face melt away but it will totally be worth it!

I also bought this Luxury Lush Pud which again is a bath bomb scented with soothing lavender making it the perfect product for a relaxing bedtime bath. It is also decorated in these beautiful pastel colours which will make the bathwater turn into a really beautiful colour. This has the same fragrance as the Twilight bath bomb which is available all year round. This bath bomb costs £3.40

And the last product I have to show you is the most adorable of all...The Christmas Penguin! Now I just LOVE penguins so I would have bought this no matter what it smelled like, but thankfully it smells as good as it looks! This is a bubble bar which as the name suggests will fill your bath with a mountain of bubbles! It has a blend of mandarin and lemon oil and just smells so refreshing I cannot wait to use it in my bath! This little guy costs only £2.95

And there you have my LUSH haul! If you have any recommendations of products from LUSH you think I should try let me know in the comments below!

Marine Skin Science Skincare First Update.

I am always interested in trying out new skincare products, I am yet to find something that works brilliantly for my dry, Sensitive and acne prone skin, So when I was offered the chance to try out these Marine Skin Science products, I jumped at the chance!

I have trialled this product religiously for 2-3 weeks, and wanted to share my first impressions and really get to know the products. Before giving a whole in-depth review after I have used it for awhile longer.

About the brand
They where first founded in 2001, In the heart of London's Medical and cosmetic centre,  and is renowned for delivering hi-tech cutting edge skin solutions for modern skin concerns. Our Skin Expert has sourced the very best hi-tech cutting-edge laser systems and advanced high performance Marine Skin Science skincare range which work in synergy, to deliver the maximum results for you and your skin.
--
Having Researched the brand, I was really impressed and intrigued to try these products, Because lets face it, They definitely know there stuff! They have a 6 step skincare regime and I was sent 3 of the items to try.

The products
Marine Skin Science Deep Sea Cleanse £25.
This luxury light creamy cleanser very gently deep cleanses the skin. Eliminating daily impurities and make-up, whilst protecting the skins natural barrier. Leaving the skin feeling soft, Supple and primed ready for further skin products.

I use this skincare morning and night, Simply shaking the bottle before use and applying to the skin to remove make-up. As the cream thickens I then dampen with a little water and then really massage it into the skin rinse and remove with a face cloth. This makes my skin feel very smooth.

Marine Skin Science Sea Polish. £39
This highly concentrated ultra-fine marine earth skin polish reveals fresh new skin, primed for increased product penetration. Targating blackheads, blocked pores, superficial pigmentation, dull even skin tone, sun damage, fine and deep lines. Leaves skin feeling soft and youthful looking.

This has to be one of the best exfoliters I have used, It is so very fine yet does the job amazingly, The idea with this product is to use it after the steam of a bath/shower and massage it into your pores, Dampening as the cream thickens. For 5 whole minutes, Meaning this really gets into your pores and defiantly feels like your at the spa!

A very thick, creamy white product with very fine particles.

Marine Skin Science Ocean Tone £25
This Pure Calming toner gently clarifies and purifies the complexion lifting away any last traces of cleanser. Gently tightens pores and restores balance to the skin, without upsetting the skins natural equilibrium. leaving the skin feeling refreshed , revitalised and primed.

This product is like the icing on the cake, simply sweep through your face on a cotton pad making my face just feel even more so refreshed.

My thoughts.
I have used these religiously, And I have to say the quality is like nothing I have ever experienced. These products are expensive but in my opinion you REALLY do get what you pay for in quality! The packaging is simple yet sleek I proudly display these in my bathroom.

I'm sorry for this picture! But to make this fair I wanted to show how my skin is getting along not with just words but with pictures, I had a lot of redness and angry spots along my chin/jaw which where just not budging at all.
Before                                                                                                 After

The first photo I took before I had used these products, My skin did break out alot more than this after a week of using these products. But as we all know your skin has to get worse before it gets better as it gets all that yuckiness and dirt out of your pores, and I was right my (photo 2) I still have spots, and some redness yes but my skin has settled down and is alot smoother, and no new blemishes have appeared. I have noticed my pores aren't as blocked and my skin isn't as red. This after only a few weeks of use I am really looking forward to trialling it out a bit more!

These products can be purchased exclusively here Don't forget to keep an eye out for my further review so hit that follow button so you don't miss out!

Time for a Change: Results!

About 2 weeks ago I asked you, our lovely readers, what new 'do I should get. Well today I went for the chop and the celebrity hairstyle that was most talked about on the blog and with friends was:

Leighton Meester

If you don't remember, or didn't catch it, here's the  previous post: Time For Change. And if you remember my hair was thick, long, kinda lifeless with no shape. I did want to keep my length but wanted a whole new look and Leighton's long layers and fringe (or bangs) is what made me choose her as one of my options.

This is the Before and After, as you can see my hair looks a lot healthier and vibrant. And by the smile on my face you can see I am a very happy Squadder!

Thanks to all our readers who helped me pick my new style and I'd love to know what you think about it in the comments below.

The Glamour Beauty Edit , Beauty Box from Latest In Beauty

Lots of us would have bought this, or heard of it but if not and even if you have I thought I'd share my thoughts on The Glamour Beauty Edit box from Latest in Beauty.

I used to love a beauty box, Glossybox I'm looking at you! I went off them around a year ago and have rarely bought any since- it was the unfair higher value boxes to some that put me off and the same brands and products reappearing way too frequently for my liking. I have previously bought these special boxes from Latest In Beauty as I like that I can see what I am getting before the box arrives and they have been fab value for money and this up is up there with the value for money!
Read below for the items included in the box .

The first item I pulled out was Eyeko Lash Curlers.

Priced at £12 here , these are gorge! Blue velvet handles eek! The lash curlers I had been using we're a cheap pair coming to an end, so a welcome addition.

Next was the Maybelline Babylips, (£2.99 on Boots) I received the one titled 'Mint Fresh' which is a nicely scented with no visible colour. I think there was a couple of variations on the babylips in the boxes, delighted to get this one as I love mint scents and didn't have this one.

A mini of Benefit they're real! mascara. I've never owned the full size but have had various minis- they last me ages! I like the brush on these.

The star of the show in most peoples opinion and the reason I mainly went for this beauty box is the HD Brow palette. Each box contains the same shade of the palette- 'Foxy' which has shades to suit most people. I like that it's the same shade and not just a random one of the 3 available. This retails at £19.96.

The last three products in the box are generous handy travel sizes. Included is a 75ml can of Tony&Guy Firm Hold Hairspray, 10ml Balance Me face Oil and a 50ml Philip Kingsley One More Day dry shampoo. I'll be keeping some of these in my hangbag, and look forward to trying the face oil as I've yet to try one.

I would definitely keep an eye on the Latest In Beauty page to find out about more fab boxes, the Glamour Beauty Edit box is still available here for the price of £14.95, with products valued at £65 so if you would use them then it's a great saving! And if you won't use them all, why not create a beauty hamper for a lucky someones Christmas pressie?

Forget Amoré this is Bioré

Earlier this year I went into hospital and because I had an operation I had to wear an oxygen mask and knowing me, I had a reaction to it and I've had a pretty ugly blemishy flair up on my cheek ever since and no special washed, treatments, gels have ever worked...until now.

The other week I was walking round the Trafford Centre and underneath the hideous halogen lighting my skin was looking dreadful, dull, pale, pores the size of altanta and this big cheek blemish. Well this killed my shopping buzz. I went into Boots with all intentions of spending a lot of money on something that would make me feel cleaner and stop my skin feeling, with lack of a better word, crap. When I was looking this one drew my eye, Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser. It was only £4.99 and I liked that it was "blemish fighting" and it didn't use stupid words like "controller" or "reducer". So I bought it and now I love it.

As you can see the blemish is very lumpy and can get quite red and sore. As Bioré has Salicylic Acid in it which helps get rid of dirt and build up and helps prevent further breakouts and black heads. It's also quite strong so it's only recommended to be used once daily. It is also quite drying so an oil-free moisturiser (I use T-Zone) is best used after.

Been using it for just over 2 weeks now and I have noticed so much of a change in my skin. It's lost it's dullness, it's looking cleaner and I can face myself in the mirror again. Yesterday I did a post on Mark Hill hair stuff and those pictures are 100% make up free, I hope you can see the difference too.

Pros:
  • It's Cheap
  • It leaves you feeling clean and fresh
  • The bottles a lot easier to use than the squeezy tubes.
  • It's simple, direct and straight to the point with what it is
Cons:
  • It is drying (but I know this is because of the ingredients that reduce the redness)
  • It doesn't smell fantastic (it smells fine just not like pink grapefruit or tea tree)

Bioré products are available from Boots, Superdrug and Asda and ranges from £4.99 to £10.99 and they have stuff to battle a multitude of skin battles from blackheads to blemish to pores. It's not fancy stuff but it does work. My skin's not felt this vibrant in months and I have Bioré to thank for that.

Have you had success with a skin fighting product? We're always on the look out for new and exciting products to try!

Mark Hill - Big Night Out Range

Now I'm no stranger to haircare brand Mark Hill, I have a spare hair dryer and straighteners that are in fact, Mark Hill. What I love about this brand is that all the products are good quality and make my hair look gorgeous. So onto this review then...

I got sent 2 products from the brands BRAND NEW Big Night Out Range and I couldn't wait to show you the results I got from using them.

Firstly, I've got to say how much I love the packaging, Black, Silver and Signature Mark Hill Hot Pink, can I say GLAMOROUS!! Mark Hill says:

"This range is for all you girls who like to turn up the glamour, walk the walk and show everyone you’re in control. It’s all about creating a look that’s hot, glamorous and totally you. Rock the award ceremony, make a noise on the dance floor and party the night away! No matter what the occasion, you’re ready for your Big Night Out!!" - Mark Hill

Now firstly I washed my hair using Mark Hill's MiracOILicious Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner (Both £6.49 Boots). Now the MiracOILicious range is gorgeous, like the smells are like citrussy and aromatic. This range also uses Morrocan Argan Oil in it so it is also repairs your hair and keeps it strong.

Source: Kilpatrick PR
I then went on to dry my hair, after brushing through my hair using my trusty Wet Brush, I spritzed in a bit of Mark Hill's Supersize Me! Volume Spray (£5.99 Boots) which you can use as little or as much as you like because it never overloads and it hasn't left any residue after drying like some volume sprays can. The smell is great and it certainly has given my hair a little extra oomph!

This left me with great volume which with hair this heavy and long can sometimes take hours to achieve but this literally took about 20 mins all together with drying time.

I loosely pinned up one side on my hair to emphasise the volume and left the rest out and wild with great lift at my parting. To complete my voluminous look I sealed the look with Mark Hill's Party The Night Away! Firm Hold Hairspray (£5.99 Boots) which is an extra fine mist, so no crispy hair! It stands the test of time and has lasted all day today, which did include a trip to the dentist in the winds, I still came home with great looking, smelling and feeling hair.

Just want to add here that I love that it says "Work it girl, Work it!" on the bottom! It made me LOL

I'd happily try more in this range and have my eye on the Christmas Gift Set which includes rollers, backcombing brush and full size Shampoo and Conditioners. I'll be back later on this week with a look into one of Mark Hill's Christmas Gift Sets for Straight Hair which is just £10 and would make a perfect stocking filler or gift!

Here's my look I achieved using Mark Hill Products (including close up shots to show shine and proof of no excess residue from either product):

Trevor Sorbie ~ Volume Travel Collection

Hey Sweeties!

The Trevor Sorbie Volume Travel Collection is a 3 product gift set, each product although perfectly sized for travelling is in my opinion quite generously sized. It comes with a shampoo, conditioner and thickening spray.
Starting off with the positives, it smells amazing - even my boyfriend noticed and that's worth a mention!
It is really affordable at only £8.00, perfect for a gift or an easily justified treat for yourself ;)
The shampoo and conditioner feel 'luxurious' when you're using them and the conditioner is easily washed out unlike many others I've used and it really did make my hair look bouncy and full of life and even slightly brighter/shinier.
There's a tip on the box that says to brush your hair back and forth in different directions to create volume when drying (wrap drying) which is what I did the first time I used it and I have to say, it works!
My only negative with these products is that my hair always feels slightly heavy and a little greasy, mostly after using the thickening spray, however my hair never looks greasy so it's not too much of an issue for me.
I have a love-hate relationship with the spray!
I would definitely recommend this gift set and here are the results I got with just these 3 products and my hair dryer :) (my fringe is especially bouncy and I love it!)
Excuse the no makeup face!

Tag: I'm a Beauty Blogger...Get Me Out Of Here!

This tag was created by Rochelle and Natasha from Next-Route-Style and I took it from Louise at Confessions of a Secret Shopper

You can only take ONE product into the jungle (aka your luxury item). What would you choose and why?
My conditioner, I hate my hair being full of tats and I can only imagine in the jungle that my hair would go a Jungle Jane MESS.

What would be your main pre jungle worry?
That I'd end up having a reaction to something or get bitten by something and it flaring up my allergies.

You only have five minutes to get ready before going into the jungle, what would be your quick beauty routine?
Brush hair, teeth, concealer, mascara. Just simple stuff to make a good first impression but not be too much like "Look at Me"

Last year we saw Helen Flanagan wearing her hair in a top bun. What would be your signature hairstyle?
I'd probably rock a Top Knot, quick simple and it keeps your hair off your neck, everyone wins!

For moral support, which female celebrity would you like to be in the jungle with you?
Katy Perry, just because we could wear matching leopard print tops and grass skirts and she could trap a tiger by roaring at it.

Everyone’s given a role in the camp. What lifestyle skill would you bring to the jungle?
I would be the entertainment. I'd try to be as hilarious as possible to keep spirits up.

What one thing about being a beauty blogger sometimes makes you want to scream ‘Get Me Out Of Here’?
Oh when you see people who have done a post on their blog and it's surprisingly similar to a post you have on your blog. Or when PR Companies are on your back for reviews.

Challenge – This is a once in a life time opportunity. You’re up for a trial to face your fears or try something new, what would you choose to do and why?
I think I'd like to try one of the creature spa tasks. I would really love to do a head to head task as I am so competitive.

There you go, I tag any other BBloggers that want to do this and leave your link below :) xx

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Hair Care

Back in August, I was sent the Australian Body Care Tea Tree Oil Face Cream to review- see here. I loved it! At the end of my post I mentioned that the shampoo and conditioner from Australian Body Care we're next on my wishlist- wish granted, I'm now back to give them a mention!

There is no mistaking that these haircare items are from the same brand, simply but well packaged and informative. I have been using these for about a month now, although I must say I when I received these I had only just had my hair newly coloured- which is expensive as we know so I have been mixing these up in my haircare routine along with my usual hair products for coloured hair.

Described as :
- 2% Tea Tree Oil
- Colourless, clear shampoo
- Rich and concentrated
- Cleanses hair and scalp, lathers and rinses easily
- Contains peppermint to cool and refresh
- Helps prevent dandruff and itchy scalp

Again the tea tree oil scent is not over powering but makes your hair feel really clean and the peppermint is defiantly welcoming. From the short time and frequency I have used these I have felt even at once or twice a week, my scalp is less itchy- as claimed. I feel like I have to step up my haircare, and bodycare at the slightest hint of winter appearing as it seems to affect me easily!

The conditioner compliments the shampoo excellently, I have been using this on my 6 year old daughter also as it is great for keeping long hair tangle free- always a battle in this house! I have enjoyed using these, priced at £8.50 each from FeelUnique for a 250ml bottle these are good value for money as you do not need to use a lot of product to achieve the claimed results. The only tiny little thing that wasn't quite 'there' for me was the shine, different products work in different ways for individuals- and I can easily use other items when styling my hair to get the look I desire so it isn't so much of an issue for me.

Overall, a great product for yourself or your family.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Caudalie were always a brand that I’d heard of but never thought I’d ever be able to afford. However, in recent years, I’ve started to approach my skincare differently. I’ve started to realise that maybe it could be worthwhile spending out now in order to reap the benefits later.

Caudalie favour natural and environmentally active ingredients, and have such an amazing ethic towards the environment. As a sufferer of dry and sensitive skin, I will always be drawn to a more organic product, knowing it’ll be so much more gentle.

On to the product! Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir is a beauty staple in the bags of many make-up artists, models and celebrities. It’s an anti-dull complexion mist, containing grape, orange blossom, rose, balm mint and rosemary.  The Elixir is inspired by the “Elixir of Youth” used by Queen Elizabeth of Hungary. Beauty Elixir claims to smooth features, tighten pores and give the complexion an instant boost of radiance. Who wouldn’t want to try that?

Just shake the bottle and spray the product onto the face before moisturiser or at any time of day if you feel your complexion needs a bit of a boost.

The first thing I noticed on using the product was the smell! I’d say the mint and lavender are the strongest notes, and it may not be for some but I instantly felt refreshed. I’ve been using this for around a week or two now and my skin feels more toned, and a thousand times more radiant. My foundation is applying much smoother and I’m using less (thank goodness, it cost me a fortune!)  Although I am drinking a lot more recently, I refuse to believe it could do so much for my skin and I’m sure Beauty Elixir has helped it along the way. I’ll be using this to the very last drop!

An extra plus is the beautiful limited edition bottle, designed by L'Wren Scott. It has pride of place on my desk. I was lucky enough to be sent this to try out but if you want to try it, Beauty Elixir retails at £32.00 for a 100ml bottle or £11.50 for 30ml, a perfect stocking filler!

What do you think? Do you think it's worth splashing out for quality?

Toners for Blonde Hair

I've died/bleached my hair blonde way too many times over the past few years than I'd like to admit. My natural colour is mousey brown/dark blonde but I like it to be a lighter blonde. However I keep facing the problem that my hair goes a very yellowy tone after a few weeks of dyeing it, when I'd prefer it to be a more cool, ash blonde.

And so recently off Amazon I bought:
Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure Color Freeze Silver Shampoo - a shampoo that you leave on for up to 5mins.
Fudge Paintbox Whiter Shade of Pale  - a toner that you apply to dry hair and leave on for up to an hour.

Shampoos/conditioners/toners etc that are purple are designed to remove yellow/brassy tones from blonde hair as it counteracts the colour (purple is opposite to yellow on the colour spectrum).

Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of my hair before I used the products but here is a photo of before I went on a night out so you can sort of get an idea of my hair (I'm on the right obviously):

Photo of my hair after:

So it's kind of hard to tell the difference because there is different lighting in the photos. Also just one application does not make a huge amount of difference - these are the sort of products that you need to use a good few times before noticing a big change.

Since taking this photo I have used both products a lot more and have concluded that the toner is more effective at achieving cool, lighter tones than the shampoo, probably because it is stronger. However the shampoo is good at making my hair feel soft. Both products are great for bringing out highlights in my hair and giving it a refreshing lift. I will continue to use these products but you have to be careful that you don't overuse them as your hair could go a little bit grey!

Have you used any toners/purple shampoos? What are the best ones for blonde hair?

Christmas 2013 Wishlist! (Boots Catalogue)

It's nearly that time of year again where all of us girls go through all the Christmas Catalogues, spend our Friday's seeing what's on the Boots "better than half price" sale and making our lists of things we hope the big fat man in the red suit will bring us.

This year has been no different to previous (except last year I blew my budget on a PS3, which was worth it but I'm happy to be able to choose a few things this year) so as soon as the Boots Christmas Catalogue came out I got my red pen out and started circling.

Here it is! My favourite part of this gift guide is the page on the inside where you can make a list of things you want out of the catalogue and can go directly instore with the codes or find them even easier on their website.

Hopefully I'm not the only person that in the "For" Column writes 'ME' pretty much the whole way down haha. The best thing about Boots at Christmas is that you can get an extra 1/3 of Christmas presents for free! and you can collect in store on orders over £20 so you save on postage and can pick it up whenever. Ok I'm straying away here, onto my wishlist. Hopefully it will help you if you're having a Dilemma for what to buy for the girls and women in your life. So there you have it, my Boot's Christmas Wishlist! Hope it's been some help for you and I will be back in the coming weeks with some perfect Hair Junkie Gift Sets including Wella, Mark Hill and Trevor Sorbie.
